Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce, that in May 28-30, 2019 Pskov State University together with National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Estonian University of Life Sciences, and IALE Chapter in Belarus are organising in Minsk (Belarus) a conference "Environmental Knowledge and Policy Innovation between East and West. Lessons Leared and not?"where we are planning to discuss and frame the problem of environmental knowledge and policy transfer from the EU to non-EU Europe and Central Asia in the context of the fit of biophysical, management, research, cultural and policy contexts.

We, therefore, are calling for session and paper proposals that will be accepted till January 25, 2018. Studies from other geographical locations are welcome as well, as long as they provide relevant insights. The key thematic areas (within the scope of the conference) are:

  • Biodiversity and water management and governance
  • Energy security, management and governance
  • Urban planning and quality of urban environments
  • Cooperation on environmental issues in the Baltic region and the Arctic
  • Environmental monitoring and research networks, assessments & reports

We are planning for policy-relevant debates with outcomes that will help to understand the current issues with environmental knowledge/policy/technology transfer, suggest solutions and support transitions towards regional and global sustainability.

Minsk is well connected to the world, and since August 1, when a 30-day visa waiver was introduced for citizens of 80 countries, including the EU, USA, Canada, traveling to Minsk became easier than ever. The city is safe and exciting, and you are absolutely going to enjoy it.

The latest information about the conference and online submission system will be available from the conference www site http://west2east.pskgu.ru/.
